Successware supports printing Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) compatible checks. Users can print checks on Blank Stock and utilize MICR fonts to print the Routing information at the bottom of the check.
Important: Before issuing MICR checks printed on blank stock, be sure to submit sample checks to your bank for testing to verify adequate print quality.
Requirements
MICR Font
To set up your installation of Successware to print MICR compatible checks, you must have a suitable MICR font installed on your system.
· For ASP Users, MICR E13B fonts will be made available.
· Non-ASP Users can purchase a MICR font package here:

MICR Toner
You will also need a printer that has MICR compatible Ink Cartridges available. Synergy can assist ASP users in determining if their ASP compatible printer will support MICR.
Blank Stock Checks
Finally, you will need Blank Stock checks to print on, instead of pre-printed checks.
Setup
Routing Number
You must record your banks Routing Number with your checking account setup in Successware.
1. Open the Reference Library form and select Accounting.
2. Open the Register Accounts reference book.
3. Open an existing checking account or create a new one.
4. Edit the account and enter the:
- Bank Account Number
- Bank Name
- Routing Transit Number (provided by your bank)
- City/State Code (provided by your bank, must be 1-99)
Save the changes.
Check Format
You must select ‘Format F – Blank Stock’ in your check alignment setup.
1. Open the Account Register form.
2. Select your checking account. Your checking account must have the Routing Number recorded as mentioned above.
3. Click the ‘Payment’ button to open up a new check.
4. Click the ‘Print Alignment’ button.
5. Under Check Format, select ‘Format F – Blank Stock’.
6. Blank Stock options:
- For MICR Font, select an appropriate MICR font.
- If you would like a 2nd signature line to print for checks over a certain dollar amount, enter the amount. Leave the amount "0" if you never want a 2nd signature line.
7. Click the button with the printer icon to preview this format.
8. Click ‘OK’ to save your changes. Once your changes are saved, any checks printed from this account will use this format.
