Classic - Installing Successware on a Remote Desktop Server

  • Updated

This article reviews the steps that are required to install Successware Classic on a remote desktop server.

1. Log in with Administrator Privileges
Use an account with admin rights to log in. Configure user permissions required for Successware in a networked environment. To avoid giving full admin access, choose one of the following:
    a.    Power User Rights: Typically sufficient for Successware. If issues arise or this level is inappropriate, use option b.
    b.    Specific Permissions: Grant read/write access to:
      i.    Relevant registry keys
      ii.    Successware file directories

2. Provide Folder Access
Grant each user full access to the Successware folder on the server. Contact a qualified network administrator if you're unsure how to assign permissions.

3. Map Network Drive & Launch Installer
Map a network drive to the Successware application folder. Then press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog and enter the path to the installer using the correct drive letter.
(e.g., E:\ClientInstall\ClientInstall\Setup.exe).

4. Complete Installation
Follow the on-screen instructions. The default settings are typically sufficient. Confirm with your network administrator if needed.

5. Modify Desktop Shortcut
Locate the shortcut in the Public / All Users folder and set its Start-In path to %TEMP% to provide each user session with an isolated working directory or optionally configure a dedicated per-user folder instead.

6. Reboot if Prompted
If the installer prompts you to restart the computer, do so before using Successware.

7. Launch Successware
After installation, double-click the new Successware desktop shortcut to open the program.
